In 45-minute private lessons, the student, dressed in comfortable clothing, is guided with words and touch through tasks such as walking, bending, sitting, standing and breathing. In later lessons, occupation-related activities such as using a computer, singing, public speaking, or playing an instrument, are addressed.
The student learns to notice, stop, and change tension habits. Part of the time, he/she lies down on a table while the teacher works gently to release tight muscles. The teacher’s touch is never intrusive, manipulative or painful. At the end of a lesson, the student typically feels calmer, lighter, and more comfortable.
Weekly private lessons for a minimum of three months are recommended but even a short course of lessons promotes meaningful change.
