In 45-minute private lessons, the student, dressed in comfortable clothing, is guided with words and touch through tasks such as walking, bending, sitting, standing and breathing. In later lessons, occupation-related activities -- using a computer, singing, public speaking, or playing an instrument -- are addressed. The student learns to notice, stop, and change tension habits. Part of the time, he/she lies down on a table while the teacher works gently to release tight muscles. The teacher's touch is never intrusive, manipulative or painful. At the end of a lesson, the student typically feels calmer, lighter, and more comfortable. Thirty private lessons are recommended but even a short
course of lessons will provide benefits. Group classes of 8-10 people are an affordable introduction.
